*Adnanu,Wambai others among
PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday conferred 194
Nigerians and non-Nigerians with National Honours Award in which Kano state
topped the list of 36 states of the federation and Abuja.
Statistics indicated that indigenes of Kano state who
received the award had out-numbered other states of the federation followed
by Lagos.
The recipients from Kano include, Prof. Saddiq Sulaiman
Wali, Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR); Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Sani
Yola, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) while Hajiya Mariya Sunusi
Dantata, Hajiya Amina Isyaku Kiru, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Borodo and Alhaji
Salisu Sambo received Member of the Federal Republic (MFR), respectively.
In the same vein, Alhaji Mukhtari Adnanu, Sarkin Ban
Kano who was before conferred with Member of the Order of the Federal
Republic (MFR) has been upgraded to Officer of the Order of the Federal
Republic (OFR) and the Wambai of Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi who was also
upgraded to the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).
Other recipients from Kano are Prof. Ibrahim Ayagi,
Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) while Hajiya Aisha Dankani and Alhaji
Salisu Sambajo bagged Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR)
respectively.
Our correspondent reports that out of the total number,
only Chief Ernest A. O. Shonekan, former Head of the Interim Government
bagged the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR)
award.
Six people got Commander of the Order of the Federal
Republic (CFR) 20, commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), 47 Officer of
the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and 55, Officer of the Order of the
Niger (OON).
Moreover, 41 persons were awarded Member of the Order of the Federal
Republic (MFR), 13, Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and 12 person got
Medals.
