FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2004           Katsina subsidises Hajj with N50m By Mu�awuya B. Idris, Katsina Katsina state government has provided a subsidy of N50million to intending pilgrims, chairman of state Pilgrims Board, Alhaji Babajo Ibrahim has disclosed. He told newsmen in Funtua on Monday that the subsidy was provided in the area of securing a befitting accomodation for the state pilgrims. Alhaji Babjo explained that so far 3;500 intending pilgrim had completed payment of their Hajj fares, stressing that this has encouraged his board to commence immediate preparation for a hitch-free Hajj exercise. On the conduct of pilgrims while in the holyland, the chairman reminded intending pilgrims, that Saudi authorities do not condone any act of indiscipline or protest during the exercise. He also advised Pilgrims not to carry any illegal goods while leaving the country to Saudi Arabia, warning that such behaviours may attract either death penality or jail sentence against the culprits. In a related development, a women hajj enlightement group has organised series of seminars and workshops to educate women on how to conduct Hajj exercise. The coordinator of the group, Hajiya Lailu told participants to vigorously learn how to perform the Hajj rites and shun bad conducts while in the Holyland. Hajiya Lailu explained that the group would sponsor some women preachers to serve as guides for the pilgrims.
