FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2004           Immunization: Turaki commends Kebbi, EU The Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki has commended the European Union and Kebbigovernment for their joint effort to improve the immunisation of children in the state. Turaki made the commendation while inaugurating the EU-PRIME office in Birnin Kebbi on Monday. Turaki said, ``this is one of the best EU's projects. I am happy to be associated with it, owing to its direct impact on the lives of our children.'' Turaki noted that children were the future leaders of the country, saying, ``everything should be done to ensure that health care delivery is given priority at all time.'' He further commended the European Union and Kebbi for their joint effort to increase the immunisation coverage for Kebbi's children and urged them to sustain it. Turaki also commended Kebbi state forits efforts in health care delivery, especially, its Eye Centre, opened last week by Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Earlier, the EU-PRIME Administrator, Malam Abubakar Aliyu, had said that the project was being implemented in partnership with the Federal Government, Kebbi State and European Union, to re-enforce immunisation efficiency. Aliyu said that similar projects were also being implemented in five other states in the country. Turaki had earlier visited some on-going and completed Kebbi government's projects as part of his one-day visit to the state.
