FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2004           Governor Duke launches motorcycle loan scheme By Aliyu L. Saulawa, Port Harcourt Governor Donald Duke of Cross River state, has launched a motorcyle loan scheme for the senior staff of the state civil service, last Wednesday. At the launching ceremony which took place at Government House, Calabar, the governor said, the workers will pay the motorcycle loan at a cost of N54,000 each and the sum of N1,900 would be deducted monthly from their salaries. According to him, his administration is committed to improving workers� walfare and the condition of service. He therefore urged the beneficiaries to utilize the motorcycles in a proper way. He then added that about one hundred workers have beneffited from the scheme In his response on behalf of other workers, one of the beneficiaries thanked the state governor for introducing the scheme and appealed to the workers to reciprocate government�s gesture by rededicating themselves to duty in order to take the state to greater heights.
