Idris, Katsina Katsina state government has directed local government councils in the state to concentrate on the improvement of agricultural sector in the next financial year. The permanent secretary, state ministry for local government council and chiftancy affairs, Alhaji Abu Dan Malam Karofi gave the directive while on working visit to Batsari to inspect projects executed by the council area on Tuesday. Alhaji Dan Malam Karofi, said agriculture is the mainstay of our economy, adding that it should be given priority so as to generate more income for the rural people. He maintained that the way to alleviate poverty and generate more income for the people is to encourage them to participate fully in agriculture. Dan Mallam, explained that the state government had resolved to revive irrigation farming, livestock and fisheries. Alhaji Dan malam Karofi explained further that government would assist all local governments to achieve set-goals. The permanent secretary told the people of Batsari that the administration in the state is committed to improving their living sandard through executing various projects. He also explained that his ministry released funds to local government councils to address problem of water shortage. The permanent Secretary who inspected boreholes, roads and clinics constructed by Batsari local council, commended efforts of the council chairman for justifying the money released to the council. He called on other council chairmen to emulate Batsari council in the area of executing developmental projects.
