FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2004           Ulumidden Islamiya appeal fund nets N5m By Lawan Muhammad Bichi the Appeal fund of Ulumidden Islamiya Yarkasuwa in Bichi local government area of Kano state has realised over N5 million last Saturday. The chief launcher, Alhaji Tijjani Abdulrahman (ATA) an independent petroleum marketer, donated N1 million, while the Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero also made a personal donation of N1 million. Other donors, at the occasion included Bichi local government, N1 million while Bichi council members donated N200,000. Alhaji Kabiru Abubakar Bichi, State commissioner for environment, donated N250,000, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo N100,000 and a member representing Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmad Haladu donated N100,000. Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero commended the chief launcher for his philantrophic gestures. He urged people to emulate the chief launcher�s contribution to the promotion of Islam. Speaking earlier, the chief launcher, Alhaji Tijjani Abdulraham, who is also an old student of the school had promised to continue to assist the school. Kano state governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau who was represented by Alhaji Kabiru Abubakar Bichi, the state commissioner for environment, assured government, support to the school and the education sector in general. Dignitaries who witnessed the occasion included former and serving commissioners in the old Kano state.
