A PLAN to unleash terror and arson in Kano during the
forthcoming Christmas festivities has been uncovered, the state commissioner
of information, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, has revealed.
The commissioner made the revelation while briefing
pressmen at Kano Government House yesterday.
Provision and distribution of fake Hisbah and
police uniforms to a large number of social miscreants who have been
carefully selected and trained to identify and set key Muslim and Christian
places of worship ablaze where made, the commissioner further disclosed.
Alhaji Abubakar maintained that the prudence, probity and
accountability as well as human development anchored by the present
administration of the state has posed a great challenge to some recalcitrant
elements who are bent on causing disaffection between the government and the
governed.
To this end, the unscrupulous elements bent on an
orchestrated plan to cause mayhem and destruction of lives and properties of
citizens of the state.
Their devilish plans as ungodly as they will appear as
deliberately planned to destabilize the state and create unprecedented
unrest which will lead to the declaration of state of emergency, the
commissioner said.
He noted that part of the devilish plan was the
sensitization and mobilization of the Christian groups to rise and fight for
their constitutional and religious rights through open demonstration which
may culminate in the breakdown of law and order in the state.
Alhaji Abubakar pointed out that reports available from
security agencies in the state have indicated that the suspected organizers
have perfected their devilish plan to unleash terror and arson during the
Christian festivities.
The commissioner further revealed that the presence of
these fake law enforcement agencies will create the wrong impression that
government is behind setting the would have been affected places on fire.
He also noted that the perpetrators have sponsored some
unpatriotic elements to the Holyland with a view to creating difficulties in
the smooth conduct of Hajj operation especially as it relates to Kano state.
The commissioner therefore urged all citizens of the state to be more
vigilant and report any suspicious move likely to cause a breach of the
peace.
