Embattled Anambra State governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, whose whereabout was unkown Sunday after it became known that a court had ordered Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun, to remove him from office, yesterday resurfaced in public and told his supporters he went into hiding to safeguard his life. Also, the Anambra State Police Command yesterday said the governor was safe, hale and hearty and has not been abducted as being speculated by some people. But the legislator who obtained the order for Ngige's removal from an Enugu High Court, Mr. Nelson Achukwu, has alleged threat to his life. Ngige, who suddenly appeared at the Government House in Awka at about 3.15p.m, told supporters that he chose to go into hiding as a protective measure when his security aides were disarmed and withdrawn by the police. "But in my own case, yesterday (Sunday), all my security operatives everywhere and in my Government Lodge were disarmed. You know discretion is a better part of valour, and sensing the situation, I went into hiding to safeguard my life because the information reaching me was that they would bomb the Government Lodge and kill me. It is not that I am fearing them. I now have experience. "They came to the Owerri accord meeting talking about Anambra people's money, and I said it is a no go area because the money doesn't belong to me as a person," he said. He added that the state's resources would be used in providing such amenities like roads, water and electricity for the people. While appealing for calm, the governor said the state needed....
