Ekiti ALGON Denies Illegal Deductions From Dipo Okunmuyide in Ado-Ekiti Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON), in Ekiti State, has dissociated itself from allegation that the state government is making illegal deductions from their allocation from the federation account. Addressing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, ALGON Chairman in the state, Mr Toba Daramola, who is also the chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government said there is no rancour between his members and the state government over deduction of allocation. According to him, all deductions made so far by the state government through the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC), are statutory and legal, saying councils since the inception of elected chairmen have been getting their allocations regularly. Fatoba explained that there was an agreement between council chairmen and the state government that 20 per cent of their allocation be deducted through JAAC, to finance some capital projects which would be spread across the 16 local government areas. In a related development, the state's Deputy Governor, Mr Abiodun Aluko, at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti denied the allegation that the state is withholding council allocations. According to Aluko, all deductions were done with due consideration to the laws establishing the body through the state House of Assembly.
