Tinubu Urges New Initiatives on Prison, Immigration Lagos By Shaka Momodu Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the Federal Government to embrace new thinking on Prison and Immigration services if the two bodies are to fulfill their statutory responsibilities. He made the call while receiving the Senate Committee on Internal Affairs led by Senator Abubakar Sondaghi who paid him a courtesy visit as part of their tour of the two services located within the state. Tinubu noted that the two bodies/services should be perceived as a serious security apparatus given the responsibilities they are saddled with, also disclosed that better initiatives in this regard will ensure that the necessary expenditure in the two areas are given greater priority. Stating that his administration plans an after care supervision services for persons who have served sentences in prison prior to their reintegration into the society, the Governor said to the extent that budget provision fails to recognise the new needs of the services the situation of failed policy will persist. Decrying the fire brigade approach being presently adopted, Governor Tinubu said the Nigerian prisons does reflect the charter on Human Right to which the nation is a signatory adding that he was willing to build a new ultramodern prison fluted with warder's quarters if the Federal Government will relinquish claim on the present Ikoyi site.
