HP Rewards Customers, Donates Computer Lab to UI

World leader in hardware manufacturing, Hewlett-Packard, recently celebrated five years of successful business in West Africa. To mark the occasion, HP Nigeria hosted partners and customers to a luncheon in Lagos where several awards were given to customers.
To show appreciation for good business relationship over the years, HP dished out prices to : Technology Distributions for being the Best Overall Distributor, West Africa; Allied Computers and Task Systems for being the Best Overall Business Partner for Nigeria & West Africa; and Sambus Computers, Best Business Partner, Ghana.
Also rewarded in the financial services segment are Diamond Bank, Access Bank, First Bank and United Bank for Africa which were given awards for their significant business patronage of HP Nigeria. Other customer sectors rewarded were in Oil & Gas, NLNG; government sector, NEPA and telecoms giant, MTN.
The company also announced the donation of a full 60-seat computer lab to the University of Ibadan complete with equipment, internet and training programs.
At the occasion, Mr. Francois Bornibus, Hewlett-Packard's Managing Director, Central, Eastern Europe, Middle- East & Africa and Mr. Olivier Suinat, Managing Director, HP Africa were who handed over the awards noted that the success of any company depend on a loyal clientele.
Company officials made presentations which they said showed HP's commitment to Nigeria and the region.
For instance, they state that HP is the first IT company to establish an office in Nigeria with the Government's call for Foreign Direct Involvement in the economy.
The company has made an investment of about three million dollars on state-of-the art service center in Lagos, with the commitment to open two more centers in Abuja and Port Harcourt. While it is operating in the country, the company has created employment opportunities and imparted technology skills in citizens of the region with the training of over 500 technological professionals and IT engineers.
HP listed commitment to superior customer service with the recruitment of highly skilled staff as one of its strongest assets.
It was revealed at the presentation that HP controls 50 percent of Nigerian market where it had garnered a total of $250 million in its five years of operations.
According to the company, the Nigerian operations has grown over the years with the promise of even more accelerated growth in the years ahead.
Country manager for Nigeria, Mr. Maduka Emelife praised the resourcefulness of HP partners in handling the products.
Although the activities of Grey market operators have been a constant problem, HP officials still declared that the company has indeed done well in Nigeria.
