In a bid to ensure the success of the
Plateau State Sole Administrator, Major-General Chris Alli and check further
crisis, Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday met with him and a
delegation of the PDP caucus and executive members in his office.
Atiku who had at a separate audience with
Alli earlier, told PDP delegation numbering 30 led by Mr. Dalo D.B. Zang, that
they have the responsibility of ensuring that the peace process in the state is
successful.
He said government is extremely encouraged
with the development so far in the state since the imposition of the emergency
rule.
According to the VP, the sole administrator
has confirmed to him that the situation has improved The administrator had few
days ago carried out some restructuring of the state public service when he
announced the sack of the chairman of five corporations and trimmed down the
number of ministries from 20 to 14 and hinted that the suspended governor of
the state, Joshua Dariye, would be probed.
Speaking with journalists after the
meeting, the spokesman of the group, Dr. Patrick Dakum said the way Alli is
carrying on is not in the best interest of peace-making in the state, adding
that once the six months suspension placed on Dariye expires, he should be
restored to govern the state as one who has been democratically elected and
responsible to the people.
“For anybody to get power outside
democratic process to me is an aberration and therefore, his non-return will
throw me into shock,” Dakum declared.
