There are strong
indications that the Chairman ,Board of Directors of the National Institute for
Sports (NIS), Chief Olusegun Odegbami (MON) may have been sacked from the board
of the sports institute by the sports ministry.
He was appointed
chairman NIS board in 2002 by the ministry. The board’s mandate expired
last February.
Ministry sources
disclosed during the week that a letter signed by the Director of Sports
Development in the Ministry of Sports and Social Development, Chief Patrick
Ekeji thanking him (Odegbami) for his meritorious services to the institute,
was sent to him last week.
“When
government writes you thanking you for services rendered, it is an indirect way
of telling you that the party is over,” said the source.
The move, the
source revealed was without the knowledge of the Sports Minister, Col. Musa
Muhammed (rtd).
Odegbami, it was
learnt, despite being insulted
by the way and manner he was eased
out, has decided not to make any issue of it.
“He is taking
it very calmly, he does no want to make any issue out of it,” the source
disclosed.
