NFA plans tight security at Abuja Stadium
By Orkula Shaagee
Correspondent, Abuja
Disturbed by the
porous security arrangement during the last World Cup match between Nigeria
and Rwanda, the Nigeria Football
Association says security during this weekend’s World Cup encounter
between Nigeria and Algeria would be tight.
The
association’s spokesman, Samuel Kaalu who spoke to our correspondent on
the state of preparedness for the match, said the security sub-committee of the
association headed by Gideon Akinshola has put in place measures to check
security lapses on match day. According to Kaalu, entrance into the stadium
would be strictly by ticket, while only vehicles with gate pass would be
allowed to pack at the packing lot reserved for spectators.
To avoid congestion
at the parking lot, Kaalu said, those charge with the responsibility of doing
that have already identified the number of spaces for cars, and that those not
issued car pass would be turned
back from the lot.
He therefore warned
that those who have nothing to do at the stadium should steer clear of the
venue as security operatives would deal decisively with anybody violating its laid down
guidelines.
