Under the power pool agreement, Nigeria will supply electricity to its three partners through a 330-kilovolt line from Birni'n Kebbi (Nigeria) to Niamey (Niger) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), with a link between Zabori (Niger) and Malanville (Benin). "Once completed, the project will help meet electric energy needs in our states while seriously enhancing financial balance in our utilities in the short, medium and long terms," said Foukori Ibrahim, a director at the Niger Electricity Company. The project's terms of reference and memorandum of agreement were adopted and signed by the managing directors of the power utilities of Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Nigeria at the end of a weeklong meeting.
