Break NEPA's Monopoly - Momoh By Ayodele Ufine Managing director of Chan-nels Television, Mr John Momoh has urged the Federal Government to break NEPA's monopoly, by giving licence to prospective private individuals, in order to ensure constant and reliable supply of electricity. "Unless they break NEPA's monopoly, you see, they have just been speaking with both sides of the mouth with promises that have not been put together. Open up NEPA and see if you will have interrupted power supply," Momoh said. Speaking with THISDAY yesterday, he cited the Nigerian Telecommunications Industry as a good example to be emulated. Momoh lamented that NEPA's inefficiency constitute, sabotage to the growth of industries that largely depend on the parastatal. "NEPA has ruined our equipment. And it is really bad. Though if it stops our programmes we can continue, but I have a very big television set and UPS that NEPA has destroyed. "NEPA rips through camera that are switched on. Some of them are worth about �10,000 about N2.5m.' Speaking further on the slow development of private television in Nigeria, he predicted that there is hope: "The future of private television in Nigeria is very bright and the opportunity is very numerous, because the digital age is here." "We have not even started in Nigeria. I mean people are saying they are on digital but they don't know what digital is all about. They have not even started a bit of it.
