Okrika Chairman Sues For Peace Rivers From Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council of Rivers State, Prince Ibibia Walter has pledged his administration's commitment to lasting peace and harmony in that tier of government. He gave the assurance while addressing the leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante Mr. Ateke Tom and leader of The Peace Makers, Mr. Nbremieye Sunday in his office at Okrika. Walter told them that having gone through a lot of hardship, neglect and destruction of lives and properties for the past three years, there is need for a sober reflection, as no community is engaging in incessant crisis now rather than toeing the parth of dialogue in the settlement of disputes. He also commended the efforts of Chief (Dr.) Tari Sekibo Oduabaji and other well-meaning Okrikans for their effort at ensuring lasting peace in the area. The council boss further thanked the two leaders for their maturity and bravery in toeing the path of dialogue and prayed God to bring it to a logical conclusion. In this speech, Chief Oduabaji commended the council chairman for the giant strides aimed at ensuring peace in Okrika and his pragmatic leadership qualities. Oduabaji who is also the chairman, Okrika Divisional Council of Chiefs thanked the two leaders for their resolve to give peace a chance. In their seperate responses, the leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante, Mr. Ateke Tom, and the Peace Makers, Mr. Nbremieye Sunday extolled the peace initiatives of the council chariman and Chief Oduabaji and promised to bury their hatchets to ensure lasting peace and substainable reconciliation in Okrika.
