Euro 2004: Greece Stun Czechs, Reach Final A 'silver goal' scored in the last minute of first half of extra time by Dallas ensured Greece's fairy tale run at Euro 2004 continued when they ran away with a lone goal victory over the more favoured Czech Republic. They now meat hosts Portugal in a repeat of their opening round upset 2-1 win in Sunday's final. For regulation time and for 14 minutes into extra time the football minnows held out against the Czech side which many had tipped to win the match and go on to win the championship on Sunday following their impressive display in the competition. The Czechs who had scored in every game of the tournament and boasted the competition's leading scorer in Baros, who had five going into last night's game, just could not find the way to the Greek goal even though they marginally had the better of the play. This, however, does not mean that the Greeks defended through out. In stead the team, which had already seen off the hosts Portugal in the opening match and the defending champions France in the quarter-finals, also made some attacking forays of their own. Although some fans may rue the injury to influential Czech skipper Pavel Ndved as being one of the reasons for their ouster, the truth is that the Czechs just could not come up with a solution to counter the Greeks and eventually paid the price for not making their ball possession count in the end.
