Rothmans Promo Turns Up 2 New Millionaires
Two new millionaires have been produced in the ongoing Collect It promo by Briitish American Tobacco Nigeria (BATN) under the auspices of Rothmans.
They are Messrs Olayiwola Olakunle, a Business Administration graduate who veered off into building based in Lagos, and Oladele Akanni, an Insurance executive from Kano.
The cheques were presented to them by Mrs Tolu Ogunsehinde, Brand Execu-tive Manager, Rothmans at the Victoria Island, Lagos, head office of BATN.
Speaking on how he eventually won the prize, Olakunle said he was undertaking the construction of a family shopping complex in Ibadan where he usually spends two or three weeks at a stretch. Being an occasional smoker, he said he won a lighter initially, which gave him the assured feeling that his wallet was "crying for (the one million naira)." Therefore he kept going until he won a pen in the second instance.
But on a day when he was not in a good mood, he said, he was on Bodija road, on the way to the site when he stopped and bought a packet of Rothmans. On seeing the blue colour of the insert he said he thought it was like the others before it.
Eventually, however, he realised he had won "awoof money" and immediately set out to redeem it by dialling the number given but when he couldn't get through, he decided to travel down to Lagos with his fiance. He said he was very well received by the Rothmans team. Confirming that the promo is real, he urged others companies to be as honest and transparent as the Rothmans team in their dealings with the public.
He said he would complete the building he was embarking on with the money.
"Rothmans will be engraved in the shop," he pledged.
Asked if he saw anything wrong with smoking cigarettes, he said the important thing was to do it moderately.
He said though he had seen N1 million before, it was the first time he was getting it on a platter of gold.
On his part, Akanni said he was not aware of the promo until he was educated about it and told that somebody had won a wrist watch worth N18,000.
He explained that when he bought the winning insert, it was the signature that first attracted his attention before he later confirmed that he was a winner..
