Hallmark Appointed Clearing Bank The Nigeria Interbank Settlement System Plc has approved the appointment of Hallmark Bank Plc as a participating bank clearing centre in its Automated Clearing Operations. In a letter to the Chief Executive of the bank signed by Mr O. P. Lawal, Managing Director and Mr E. O. Ajao, DGM )NACS Operation), NIBSS conveyed its authorization for the connection of Hallmark Bank's participating Bank Clearing Centre to the Nigeria Automated Clearing System (NACS) Virtual Private Network. This according to the notice was to facilitate the live operation of the PBCC. Hallmark is also a member of the Smart Card Consortum. It would be recalled that the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS), had only recently appointed Hallmark bank Plc as a clearing and settlement bank for securities traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, a corollary to its very efficient and sophisticated information technology system. Meanwhile, a Lagos based publisher and businessman, Dr. Jimanze EgoAlowes has commended Oceanic Bank International Nigeria Ltd, He paid particular tribute to the vision of Oceanic's Chief Executive, Dr. (Mrs) Cecilia Ibru. Especially of note according to Dr. EgoAlowes is Ibru's dedication towards financing Real Sector and Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs. He urged other bankers to emulate the Oceanic lead and help re-kick-start the economy. On the move by the bank to go public, Dr. EgoAlowes said it was an expected and logical destination for a forward looking financial corporation that has done so well. Speaking further, he said the injection of public and tradable stocks into Oceanic equity mix, will help deepen and democratize the financial market, which is the trend world wide.
