Zonal Quiz Winners Emerge Winners have emerged in three zones in the on-going first National Quiz Competition for secondary schools organised by the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC. This was announced by the head of department, corporate affairs of Securities and Exchange Commission, (SEC), Abdul Zubair. According to him, the South-south zone which comprise Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Cross River States, the Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State emerged the winner while Government College, Kuru Jos, Plateau State won in the North Central Zone. Also, states which contested in the zone comprised Nassarawa, Abuja, Kogi, Kaduna, Niger and Kwara States with the Federal College, Sokoto emerging the winner in the North western zone, beating its counterparts in Kebbi, Zamfara, Jigawa, Katsina and Kano States. SEC representative at the Port-Harcourt zonal finals, Miss Louisa Ukponwan expressed satisfaction with the notion that the aim of the commission in setting up the quiz competition has been achieved due to the fact that the students have acquired the knowledge of capital market issue. She also commended the students for their efforts and sportsmanship inspite of the share period within which- they had to prepare for the competition. Still on the zonal finals, the Cross River Commissioner for Education, Venerable (Prof) T.N. Okujagu further said that the commission's effort are in line with the state government's focus in the development of the educational sector which is a priority for the state.
