Chairman of Cross
River State Sports Commission, Charles Bassye O'Neill has commended the Delta
State first lady Nkoyo Ibori for bringing this year's edition of the annual
championship to Calabar.
Speaking in a chat
with Daily Independent in Calabar, O'Neill said Mrs Ibori has done not just the state proud but the nation as a whole with
the national sports initiative.
She has done well
and this has opened our eyes too and we are also now ready to emulate by
calling other first ladies to encourage
sports the way she has done.
He said by bringing
the national championship for
athletes under the age of 20, it has reawakened Cross-River State government’s
resolve to put the state in its rightful place in sports.
O'Neill noted that
his state has learned a lot from the championship adding that henceforth, the
state government would not neglect any aspect of sports development since it is
one area that can be used to project the states image.
