Saraki Promises to Revisit Traditional Rulers' Grading Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki has promised a delegation of traditional rulers and eminent. Indigenes of Irepodun Local Government that the contentious grading and recognition of traditional rulers in the state will soon receive attention. The delegation, on a thank you visit to the governor was also told that report on the grading and upgrading of chiefs would soon be submitted, assuring that immediate action would be taken to put the matter to rest. He said his administration is not against grading of traditional rulers, but decried the political motives behind the exercise carried out by previous administration. "The last exercise was not done with any good intention. It was done as a pure blackmail for the purpose of election. We are not waiting till 2007 to grade traditional rulers", the governor said. He assured that the state government will act promptly as soon as it receives the report of the chieftaincy review panel, because government holds the traditional institution in high esteem. Saraki said the state government would vigorously pursue its programme of empowering the people through job creation in agro-allied and small scale industries, assuring that Irepodun Local Government would not be left out in the scheme. He said government would soon carry out a review of its health policies and programmes to assess the level of success and other areas calling for attention. He sought the support of the people in the collective task of repositioning the state and assured that other requests of the delegation would be addressed soon.
