7 Shortlisted for Poly Rectorship From Hammed Shittu in Osogbo The Federal Government has shortlisted seven persons out of the 22 that applied for the post of the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State. THISDAY checks revealed that the shortlisted seven were picked after the panel set up by the Federal Ministry of Education verified all their credentials and curriculum vitae. Among the seven persons, was Acting Rector of the Institution, Dr. J.O. Oke. Sources close to the ministry said in Osogbo at the weekend that three persons will take the list to the Presidency to enable president Olusegun Obasanjo pick one of them. Meanwhile, the institution's lecturers have appealed to Obasanjo to pick the institution's Rector from within. A statement issued by the lecturers under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State Chapter and signed by its chairman, Mr. Samson Oluga and Secretary, Mr. Isaac Komolafe made available to newsmen in Osogbo stated that, the action would go a long way in bringing peace and harmony to the polytechnic. They said appointment of the former Rector, Professor Olowookere from outside who came from Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, brought no development to the institution. The union therefore appealed to Obasanjo to ratify the candidature Dr. J. O.
