Gov Seeks Private Sector Support for Education Kastina From Jare Ilelaboye in Katsina Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has called for support from wealthy private institutions and individuals to support education in the state as government could no longer shoulder the heavy responsibility of financing education alone. He said presently about ninety thousand primary school leavers in the state may not secure admission in existing secondary schools owned by the government in the state. The governor was speaking over the weekend at the first graduation of 118 students of Ulul-Albab, the state's first Science Secondary School. He said nearly half of the budget of the state had been devoted to education since assumption of office in the state for the past five years but the trend showed that his government can no longer bear the brunt except private institutions and individuals volunteered to assist with the establishment of schools in the state. The governor gave an example of the battle the state had with the increase of primary school leavers ready for entrance into secondary schools in the state. Yar'Adua urged people of the state particularly wealthy ones to come out of their shells and make an effort in establishing secondary schools, saying without such efforts many primary school leavers in the state would not have secondary education within the state.
