Inter-Continental Bank Teams Up with ALGON Soccer By Pius Ayinor Managers of the ALGON youth soccer tournament have announced their partnership with Inter Continental Bank in realisation of the goals of the competition this term. The National Coordinator of the competition, playing in its first year, Mr Telema Briggs told THISDAYSports that both bodies had worked out a lot of partnership details concerning the event. "We are happy to announce that we have one of our very major sponsor and partner in the Inter-Continental Bank. The talks had been on for quite sometime and we still in the process of expanding the relationship. We simply call on other corporate bodies to emulate the steps taken by the bank to uplift youths of the country through this interactive competition," Briggs said. And as part of the arrangement, the championship registration forms will be sold across the country through the branch network of the bank for the competition. "We have altogether left out electronic sale of the forms for now for technical reasons. But we have made them available at all branches of the bank nationwide," he said. By the calculations, the forms will be available as from the 11th of this month. We gathered that some local government areas have already shown enthusiasm concerning the competition reserved for boys who are 17 years or below. "Those from Osun State in particular have been in touch but we called for their patience as things have to follow the arrangement carefully worked out already." The competition will hold from 6th September to 9th October at the state level. The national and final stage will hold from 18th October to 27th November 2004. The event is open to youths in the local government areas were they reside and not necessarily that of origin.
