20 Emerge at Nestle Maggi Cooking Contest

A total of twenty contestants have now been short-listed to compete for the star prize of a brand new Honda Civic Exi Inspire 2004 model car plus weekend for two at Nicon Hilton Hotel, Abuja and other exciting mouth-watering prizes on offer for winners in the 20th edition of the Maggi National Cooking Competition.

According to the Marketing Manager, Nestle Nigeria PLC, Mrs. Iquo Ukoh, the contestants have been selected after a rigorous process by a highly critical panel of judges, to contest at the zonal stage of the competition, which will take place in Kaduna (Northern zone),and 1 llorin (Southern zone),in July.

Mrs. Ukoh explained that out of these, ten contestants are expected to participate at the northern zonal contest holding in Kaduna on July 10, while the remaining ten contestants will fight for cooking supremacy at the southern zonal contest scheduled to hold in Ilorin on July 17.

The 10 contestants short-listed to compete in Kaduna for the Maggi northern zonal crown include Amaka Mbadiwe-Ohia, Clement Ganaka, Orji Esse, Hajarat Bagudu and Ini James. Others are Felicia Okeji, Inemesit Adeniyi-Philips, Connie John, Olubunmi Famoroti and Blessing Ererube. On the waiting list are Simon Mary and Laraba Yashim.

Short listed candidates for the Maggi southern zonal contest scheduled to hold in Ilorin on July 17 include Felicia Kolapo, Juliana Adebayo, Otibho Egbele, Iyabo Popoola-Lamidi, Stella Ikeocha, Dowra Aimiuwu, Bukolu Arowobafe, Ngozi Nzeka, Jumoke Olaniyan and Ayobisi Adejuwon. On the waiting list are Toyin Odewale and Mercy Ajefolakemi.

The Nestle PLC marketing manager further stated that the short-listed candidates were chosen after meeting the demanding standards set by the respected panel of judges

Participants at the zonal level contests that are scheduled to hold in Kaduna on July l0, and Ilorin on July 17, stand a chance of winning prizes which include a bedroom fridge plus set of pots, 14-inch colour television sets plus 20 piece dinner sets, deep fat fryers plus electric kettles, and consolation prizes of radio sets for the remaining participants.

Other star prize for the finals slated for August 7 in Lagos include a six burner gas cooker, microwave oven, a deep freezer, set of pots and set of chinaware among other
