Numan: Haruna Relaxes Curfew From Abel Orih in Yola Adamawa State Governor, Boni Haruna has announced government's resolve to relax the dawn to dusk curfew put in place in Numan town and Yola the state capital following the eruption of ethno-religious crisis in Numan, which claimed many lives and property some weeks ago. Haruna, who announced this in a statewide broadcast, explained that the action was due to the fact that laws and public orders in the state are in control as the July 10 local government council elections fast approach. He said the curfew, which was from 8:00pm to 6:00am in Numan, would now take effect from 10:00ap to 6:00am while that of Yola was reviewed from 9:00pm and 6am to 11:00pm and 6:00am. The governor however warned that government is in the position to deal with those who are bent on violating measures put in place to ensure public law and order. Haruna particularly warned against public processions, adding that the order to shoot on sight anyone carrying arms and ammunition or causing arson and destruction remains in force. He said the unfortunate incident in Numan has made it obvious that there is no sacrifice too much for peace. The governor remarked that government was well informed in its decisions and has acted in the interest of law and order in the state since the breakout of Numan crisis. He then appealed to the people of the state to welcome the need for peaceful co-existence, without which he observed, there would be no dividends of democracy, saying nobody would prefer what is not of benefit to him, given the choice.
