Goje Threatens to Resign If... From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Danjuma Goje, yesterday threatened to resign as governor if he is further pressurised by the people who would not want him to fulfill his campaign promises. Goje while rounding up his local government tour at Pantami Stadium in Gombe, alleged that some individuals believed he ought to be sharing the state allocations instead of providing necessary amenities that would move the state forward. According to him, he was not ready to "play ball" like the past administration that did not achieve anything in four years. The governor explained that he would be held responsible for any failure if he squandered the resources of the state. Said Goje: "People are saying the government did not do anything for Gombe. I don't want my tenure to be like that. I want to make a difference and that is why I am desperate to provide good amenities for the people of this state. I can resign if they will not allow me to achieve my promises." He reiterated that he was determined to provide good roads in Gombe and rural areas, build hospitals, airport, solve water problem in the state and lay a good foundation for the Gombe State University. The governor stressed that his government could still assist individuals after achieving its objective and called on the people of the state to exercise patience. "You have to exercise patience. We have our priorities and I hope you will give us your cooperation to move Gombe to greater heights," he maintained.
