Tinubu's Aide Seeks Support for Govt
Lagos

Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Political and Legislative Powers, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole has called for support for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable it deliver rapid and meaningful socio-economic development of the state.

Danmole stated this in his welcome address at the launching of the Women and Youth Empowerment Programme by "The Patriots", an arm of the Lagos State Alliance for Democracy (AD) at the City Hall in Lagos recently.

The Special Adviser who opined that the group believed that for the state government to continue to be successful, it is essential that people support and render complementary assistance to the efforts of the Tinubu's administration to better the lots of the populace.

Danmole remarked that whatever the government is doing coupled with the assistance from numerous non governmental organizations in the areas of health, education, poverty alleviation and social development would not be enough except women and youth are directly involved in efforts to solve problems of social ills.

While commending Tinubu for his laudable programmes aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of the people, Danmole said he has no iota of doubt that history will acknowledge the governor's accomplishment at the end of his tenure in 2007.

On the group's empowerment programme, he described it as a selfless effort to rescue women and youth from the clutches of social ills and unemployment.

He added that the group has set up a foundation which will pull resource together from individuals, corporate, and non-government organisations from where people will be aided financially to empower themselves.

According to Danmole, intended projects under the scheme include, block-making industry, micro-credit scheme (Esusu) small business support and soft drink mini-depots.

Others are mini-telephone/business centers, photocopy, provision/food sales and handicrafts/artisan trades.

The highlight of the event was the launching of the Diamond Sisters, the women wing of "The Patriots".
