NFA Commends Adamu Over Enyimba By Duro Ikhazuagbe A few weeks after escaping ban by Confederation of African Football (CAF), over the non eligibility of an Enyimba player in last year's Champions League, the Nigeria Football Association has sent a letter of appreciation to Dr Amos Adamu for his role in getting the 'Peoples' Elephants' off the hook. In the letter signed by FA scribe, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, the football federation expressed it's appreciation over the significant role played by the CAF Executive Committee member during the deliberations over the protest against the eligibility of Ahmed Yaro Yaro Garba to play for the Nigerian champions Chief Ogunjobi said sports loving Nigerians will forever remember how Dr Adamu used everything at his disposal to convince the Organising and Disciplinary Committee members that the player in dispute was qualified to play for Enyimba at the time he did. "The Nigeria Football Association, Enyimba FC of Aba and the entire sports loving people of Nigeria will forever be grateful to Dr Amos Adamu for his tremendous contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria," the scribe noted. Dr Adamu, who defeated Ghana's Abedi Pele Ayew to grab the slot reserved for the sub-region on the CAF executive committee only last February during the Nations' Cup in Tunisia, became Nigeria's saving grace when the Egyptian club attempted to snatch Enyimba's hard earn victory in the boardroom. Ismaili's protest that Yaro-Yaro played for Kano Pillars almost at the same time he featured in the Champions League for Enyimba was ruled null and void as the evidence tendered by the Egyptians were those of another season.
