Dope: FIBA Writes Lady Tigers, Others By Pius Ayinor The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has asked the national female team, the Lady Tigers to give details of their current location or training camp in any part of the world. The letter which has also been sent to all other teams (both male and female) bound for the Athens 2004 Olympics, is enable the world governing body conduct dope tests on some players through the relevant agency. And in this instance, the Anti Doping Agency (WADA) is billed to conduct the tests. The letter sent to the Olympic teams and signed by the FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann reads in part: "In accordance with its agreement with FIBA and for the purpose of Doping Control Programme, the Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is authorised to collect samples from players in the sport of basketball. "In order to perform sample collection in view of the upcoming Olympic Games in Athens, WADA would need to know, whether for your national team there are training camps placed for the month of July and if so, at which address and dates your team will staying and training." By the plans, the players will be randomly picked for the test ahead of their arrival in Greece. Nigeria is the only female team from Africa while the Angolan men will play in male category. Like many of the teams, the Lady Tigers are already in closed camp but are in Germany for that purpose.
