NSE approves trading floor for Edo By Benson Agwu Correspondent, Benin City The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has given formal approval to Edo State government to set up a trading floor. The State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Bright Omokhodion, who announced this shortly after the executive council meeting, disclosed that the stock exchange market trading floor would be located in the premises of the newly constructed library complex on Sapele Road, Benin City. Omokhodion equally disclosed the resolution of the government in urging the state debt recovery committee to be more forceful by impressing it on the Federal Debt Management Committee to ensure equity and fairness in the deductions of state debts from the federation allocation. The commissioner, who said that the government was to henceforth accord Project Charitone considerable financial support, added that a committee will soon be set up to work out a modality toward achieving this noble objectives, even as he expressed the appreciation of the state government to the management of Inter-Continental Bank in its readiness to give some indigent indigenes of the state scholarship awards. He equally disclosed that the controversy surrounding the ownership of Ona and Asagogo has been laid to rest in favour of the state and that efforts is on-going towards the recovery of funds accrued from it and currently in the executive council account.       Copyright� 2002.
