NDDC Received N86 bn Since Inception - MD From Ahamefula Ogbu in Abuja Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Mr. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo yesterday put the total amount of money received by his commission since inception at N86 billion. He said out of this amount, the commission expended N70 billion on the execution of developmental projects in the Niger Delta region. The Managing Director named the Federal Government as the highest contributor to the commission's income, giving N28 billion (most of this was appropriated for it by the National Assembly). He said that not all the money approved by the National Assembly to the commission that were released to it. He said in its first year of operation, out of the N10 billion approved for the Commission, only N7.5 billion was released; the same amount was appropriated for it in its second year but N 9billion was released. Aguariavwodo said if the total funds due his Commission for the three years were split among the states, it would come toN3 billion per year which he said could not do much given the enormous developmental pressure they were under.
