Activists Renew Agitation for Genuine Democracy By Ndubuisi Ugah Renewed agitation for the enthronement of genuine democracy dominated remarks by Pro-democracy activists yesterday who gathered in Lagos to commemorate the sixth anniversary of acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. While Abiola's legacies were repeatedly extolled, the activists vowed to intensify efforts and ensure the realisation of a true democratic dispensation that would address the various problems of true federalism. The activists said the need to renew the call was informed by the current state of the nation, which rather than accelerate rapid development in the various sectors was in comatose going by the Federal Government moves pauperise the masses. Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti, chairman Centre for Constitutional Governance (CCG) said the ideals of democracy can not be achieved without the enthronement of genuine democracy.
