Police/Airforce Clash: Joint Operation Inaugurated By Yemi Akinsuyi and Eugene Agha In a bid to put an end to the clashes between the Airforce and Police yesterday, joint security operation involving Police, Airforce and Army has been put in place. Making this known to THISDAY yesterday during a phone chat, Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Israel Ajao, said the operation is to ensure lasting peace. Ajao, who debunked claims that three policemen died said nobody was killed adding that policemen arrested by the Airforce have been released and are responding to treatment in the hospital. But earlier yesterday, there was a reported case of a bloody revenge by Airforce personnel, which claimed not less than four people, including three policemen's lives. According to an eye witness account, some aggrieved Airforce personnel, on hearing of the death of one of their men said to have been shot by a policeman went vengeance mission. "As early as 5.30 this morning yesterday a handful of Airforce personnel were positioned at the PWD gate of the Barracks, harassing and beating any policeman in uniform around the area. "As at 7am about three of them, who attempted to battle the aggrieved Airforce personnel, were beaten to death. In fact, nobody could come around here for any business", stated the middle aged man, who preferred anonymity. When THISDAY contacted the Command Public Relation Officer (CPRO) of the Airforce, Wing Commander Emeka Ozoemena, he declined comment but promised to speak to the press during a press conference.
