Kwara Gets Duty Waivers on Donated Books The Federal Government has agreed to waive import duties on books and medical equipments donated to Kwara State by Kwarans resident in North America. Governor Bukola Saraki disclosed the gesture in Abuja yesterday while briefing leaders of thought from Kwara North Senatorial District on his recent trip to the United States of America. Saraki said a large volume of books on engineering, social sciences, an ambulance and a mammogram (breast cancer screening machine) were donated to the government by the Kwara State Association of Nigeria in North America. Besides, he said many members of the group have signified their intention to invest in agriculture, food processing, information technology and health-care related industries. "The State of Georgia and Dekalb County in Atlanta are also interested in co-operating with Kwara State in health, education and environmental services", Dr Saraki said. Specifically, the Kwara State Polytechnic and Dekalb County are co-operate on technical education by exchanging students and teachers. The Carter Centre in Atlanta, committed to fighting guinea worm has pledged to build public toilets in selected parts of the state to promote public health and sanitation.
