Ikoyi Hotel to Get Facelift Lagos By Justina Okpanku A South African firm, Southern Sun Hotel and Beta Consortium announ-ced the formal management and technical assistance agreements for two luxury business hotels in Lagos yesterday. The move came after the takeover of 70 year-old Ikoyi Hotel formerly owned by Nigerian Hotels Limited. Beta Consortium and its technical partners, Southern Sun, Africa's largest hotel group, intend to turn Ikoyi Hotel into the leading hotel of Lagos metropolis and West Africa in terms of business and leisure tourism. At a Contract Signing Ceremony and Press Conference in Lagos, the duo said the two new hotels that Southern Sun will manage will be branded as a Holiday Inn and a Southern Sun Hotel respectively, to be carried out of the old Ikoyi Hotel. The former will be a four star facility with 150 bedrooms and the latter will be, a four-star deluxe hotel with 100 rooms. Both hotels which are being developed by the Nigerian-based Beta Consortium on the site of old Ikoyi Hotel will have all the necessary public facilities such as restaurants, meeting rooms, business centres, fitness rooms, and swimming pools to ensure a pleasurable stay for business travellers.
