Haruna Gives Recipe for Development Adamawa From Abel Orih in Yola Governor Boni Haruna of Adamawa State has advised all citizens to be guided by the spirit of magnanimity for positive development. The governor who made the plea shortly after returning from Jos, where the Court of Appeal upheld his election, stated in a broadcast to the people that since justice has been given even to the petitioner, all matters relating to the 2003 governorship election petition by the Jos Appeal Court judgment had been finally put to rest. He described the judgment of the Jos Appeal Court as a triumph of the rule of law and a watershed in the history of democracy in Adamawa and Nigeria at large. Haruna specifically thanked President Olusegun Obasanjo, for openly demonstrating his support by making available the services of his personal lawyer during the appeal cases, as well as Vice President Atiku Abubakar for taking the matter a personal challenge, the national chairman of the party, members of the national assembly and fellow governors across the country for their solidarity. He expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life and scaling through the period of the case. The governor gave a special thank to the entire citizens of the state for the support and encouragement. He however, cautioned that as the state was in another electioneering campaign for the local government councils election next Saturday, the state government is ready to deal decisively with any one that attempts to hide under the disguise of the exercise to perpetrate any form of misconduct.
