NEPA Commences Facilities Upgrades Delta From Onwuka Nzeshi in Warri National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) has commenced the renewal and upgrade of its power distribution facilities in Sapele, Delta State with the hope of installing a new 15MVA transformer at its Amukpe injection substation. The project took off on the heels of the provision of some distribution transformers and other relevant operational materials from the corporate headquarters of the electricity corporation in Abuja. The District Manager of Public Affairs for, Mr. Emmanuel Ibude, said the essence of the project (system change over) is to improve power supply in Sapele by allowing network flexibility and expansion as the present system has gone obsolete and many of its facilities overstretched. According to him, the project would be executed in phases beginning with the Amukpe injection substation and the Ogorode injection sub-station would be in the second phase of the plan. Besides, he said the authority is currently working on an expansion programme at the Amukpe injection substation through the creation of a third feeder line to eliminate the ongoing load shedding and frequent power outage in the area. It could be recalled that the poor power situation in Sapele in the nation's largest power stations came to the fore during the maiden visit of the Chief Operating Officer, Benin Distribution Zone of NEPA, Mrs Mary Akiode to the district two years ago.
