'FIFA Recognises Nigeria's Importance' From Juliana Taiwo in Abuja The Minister of Sports Col Musa Mohammed (rtd) has said the visit by FIFA officials signifies the recognition by the world body of Nigeria's pre-eminence in the game and Nigeria Football Association's number one position in the administration of football in Africa. Mohammed said this while receiving the duo of Jean Michael Benezet and Jean Onugueme Manga, who are in the country to inspect and ascertain the site allocated to the NFA for the construction and take off of the FIFA goal project. He assured the team led by NFA Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima of government's willingness to assist in the project, pointing out that land had already been provided and confirmed for the NFA with Certificate of Occupancy spanning 99 years. He further assured that there would be tax exemption for construction materials not sourced within the country for the purpose of the project should the need arise. Earlier, Benezet had noted that the project would add value to the stadium and had requested an extension to the land allocated for the project (Zone B of National Stadium). He emphasised FIFA's role to finance the project only with assurance of land belonging to the NFA and the provision of confirmed C of O.
