Organisation Gives Maternity Hospital Computer Centre

The Lagos Island Maternity Hospital now has its own computer centre and a functional website, courtesy of Nigeria's foremost international education provider, International Learning Systems.
The centre and website were commissioned by the Lagos State commissioner for health, Dr. Leke Pitan.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Leke Pitan celebrated the event as a plus for the call for private sector participation in governance, as championed by the Tinubu administration. To him, the occasion goes beyond the donation of the computer centre, but signifies a rnajor signpost in patriotism.
Dr. Leke Pitan particularly noted with commendation the fact that the donation came from a someone who served~ the previous administration as Commissioner, which to him is a new dimension to the concept of governance, as commonly believed in Nigeria.
He congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of International Learning Systems, Mrs. Sekinat Yusuf for her vision and philanthropic gesture, urging all tho~e who have been privileged to serve government at all levels in the past to emulate her trail-blazing gesture. Attributing appreciation to God for the opportunity to be of service, Mrs. Sekinat Yusuf, who was commissioner for Education in Lagos State under the ~inirtration, said she decided to come to the aid of Lagos Island Maternity Hospi~ because of the fundamental role the hospital plays in the life of the nation. Life, she stated begin there, hence the need to place emphasis on the women, in health care delivery. With the computerization, the hospital will be able to enhance its ability to diagnose and keeping of the patient's records.
The objective of International Learning Systems i. to use education as a weapon to eradicate poverty. Hence, the institution has also donated computers to the Lagos teaching scrvice commission, and some students union governments in higher institutions of learning.
The permanent secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Olayide Ogunsulire and the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ajetunmobi thanked the donor for her good gesture, and spoke on the numerous advantages of the computerization project, calling on public-spirited individuals and philanthropists to help support health care delivery in the state.
