As the Federal Government continues to grapple with the problems associated with pension arrears, a new software designed to enhance pension reform has been introduced into the Nigerian Information Technology market.
The Director of MFP Limited, Mr Sami Jarmakani made the disclosure last week at a one-day seminar on the application of Profiles Integrated Management System (PIMS 2), organised by his company. He said PIMS 2 has a module for payroll and human resources management.
The module, according to him, can handle the data base of any size. "It work on a Delphi platform that has been very successful throughout the world and is error-free. It can keep records of every single soldier from the day he got enlisted to the day he leaves. PIMS 2 can project into the future and tell you accurately, how much its going to cost you to pay pension."
The Chief Operating Officer of Profiles Software, Mr Joe Halem said the software "is much more than just a software solution, but the backbone of modern management."
Halem who described Nigerians as a people looking and working toward a better tomorrow, listed some short term benefits of the package to include the elimination of unwanted facts, helps in controlling inventory and brings about precision, help in making better use of the resources of the company, capable of providing reliable information, led to improve competitiveness, bring about efficient production among others.
He who noted that it is impossible for anybody to "improve what you cannot measure," described PIMS 2 as a global measurement tool that provides reliable data. He observed that tax system management anywhere in the world is always complicated but averred that his company has perfected a system that has solutions to the challenges.
Jamarkani pointed out that the major challenge confronting IT sector in the country is maintenance. He said: "its not just selling software that matters, it is the maintenance. I know many companies that bought softwares from overseas, paid a lot of money for them, but two, three months after the softwares were installed, they developed problems with nobody to fix the problems. What we're trying to do at MFP is to understand our customers' needs and meet them."
