...Pedro Launches Foundation The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Femi Pedro and a host of commissioners and government funtionaries will on Tuesday next week launch the Red Star Foundation. They will also present scholarship award to some students of Oshodi Local Government area granted by Red Star Express. The Red Star Fondation is an initiative of Red Star Express, a frontline express delivery and logistics solution company in Nigeria to express its corporate social responbility and demonstrate its core value for the benefit of its immediate community in particular and the society in general. The company is doing this in collaboration with its host community and Oshodi local government headed by Hon. Afeez Ipesa-Balogun. According to the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Issac Orolugbagbe,"We intend to go beyond mere donations to implement solution-based intiatives that will focus on measurable results. We will apply our solutions based approach to realize lasting benefits in our relationship with our host communities." The focus of the Foundation therefore include education, community development, disaster relief, health related programmes and environmental issues. As a first step towards the realization of this set goal, scholarships have been awarded to nine students from Oshodi local government. They are Odueme Christian and Madu Judith from Mafoluku grammar school, Ofeimum Barclays and Aderele Amudat from Oshodi school as well as Adegbenro Mutiat and Osinubi Oluwafemi from Unity high school. Others are Ajaegbu Nwamaka from Oshodi coprehensive school and Akuma Queen from Bolade grammar school. Red Star Exprss, a licensee of FedEx, the largest express tranportation company in the world has 13 regional offices with151 express centers in all major cities in Nigeria. The company had a vehicle fleet of over 200 and employs over 600 staff. It has been awardad ISO 9002 certificate for offering quality service by Standard Organisation of Nigeria and awarded the best indigenous courier company in the country.
