Chairman Board of Nigeria Football
Association (NFA), Ibrahim Galadima has reacted to a statement credited to the
Minister for Sports, Musa Mohammed which hinted on the ministry’s
intention to restructure the NFA.
Speaking to newsmen in Lagoson Wednesday ,
Galadima said the ministry has the right to do whatever it wants and one cannot question its authority, saying, “I don’t
have any problem with that and neither does the NFA”.
Galadima however added that even before the
ministry made its intention known, the NFA board had already commenced a
process aimed at sanitizing the football house.
“What I want to tell Nigerians is
that the NFA has already started a process in that regard. A committee has been set up and
its report has been submitted to the NFA board and the board will look at the
report”, said the NFA boss.
He informed that restructuring the FA was
what the NFA board was doing before the minister came with the directive.
According to him, the minster’s directive is a welcome developing since
the idea is to better the NFA. Also speaking on the status of Super Eagles
Chief Coach, Christian Chukwu, Galadima informed that Chukwu remains the
national team coach until his contract expires in August.
While denying speculations making the
rounds that some names have already been penciled down as technicial advisers
to the national team, Galadima said “for now nobody has been short listed
for the position”.
While pleading that Nigerians should be
patient with the Glass House, he said a new technical adviser would be
announced in September, adding that such announcement would only be made
subject to the availability of funds.
Told of the recent ministry’s
pronouncement as regard money made available to it, Galadima said what was
released to NFA was the usual subvention and not money for hiring a foreign
coach.
