Enyimba football
club of Aba and Rangers of Enugu have departed the country for their
continental assignments this weekend.
Enyimba playing in
the CAF Champions League will engage Africa Sports of Abidjan next Sunday,
while Rangers will keep a date with APR of Rwanda on Saturday.
Enyimba who are the
defending Champions will aim for a good result from the game and Super Eagles goalkeeper,
Vincent Enyeama who is part of the team told Daily Independent that they are
set to do the nation proud.
We are not going
there to lose. I know that very well because the team is getting into its right
elements. No matter what is happening in the league, Eniymba is a formidable
force in the CAF Champions League.
Nobody gave us a
chance to do well in the last game against Petro Athletico in Luanda. But we
gave our best to qualify for the league stage of the competition.
So we are going to
Abidjan to win so as to be in the top position on the league table of our
group,î Enyeama said.
Rangers coach
Lawrence Akpokona revealed that it is going to be a tough match but is hopeful
that his boys would rise to the occasion like they have done in the last matches
of the league.
I know it is not
going to be easy, but I have the confidence that my players will do their best
in the game. Like I would always say, we are going to approach the game with
caution.
That is we are
going to defend very well and also attack very well. There is no need of
playing defensive when opportunities can come for us to win the match. There is
no problem in the team and the boys have blended very well,î Akpokona
noted.
