Udenwa Abula tourney holds September

The first Governor
Achike Udenwa Abula inter-state challenge cup competition has been scheduled
for September 20 ñ24 in Owerri.
A statement issued by the president of
Traditional Sports Federation of Nigeria, Mallam Elias Yusuf said the
competition is aimed at projecting Nigeriaís cultural heritage as well
as internationalising the sport.
Gov. Achike Udenwa
of Imo State who has been made the patron of the trado-sports would soon be
inducted at a date yet to be announced.
According to the
statement, Udenwa was chosen because of his contributions towards sports
development in the country and his state being the overall winner in
trado-sports at the 2002 National sport festival in Benin.
Yusuf recalled that
the Trado sports became a scoring event in the 1998 national sports festival
and featured as demonstration sport during the 8th all Africa games, Abuja
2003.
