The dismissed officer will appear at an Ibadan Magistrate Court today to face murder charges. Sources at the state Police Command, Eleyele, told The Guardian yesterday that the erring officer was given a summary dismissal after he was found guilty in an investigation conducted by the police. The passenger, a butcher, Saheed Aborisade was reportedly shot dead by the police officer over the failure of the driver to give a N20 bribe. The killing of Aborisade was greeted with protests by the association of Oyo State Butchers and aggrieved members of the public who demanded justice on the matter. Both Governor Rasheed Ladoja, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Security and Protocol and the Police Commissioner, Mr. Moses Anegbode promised that justice would be done on the matter. The late Aborisade was gunned down by the officer on his way with others to buy cows at the Cattle Market in Akinyele area of Ibadan.
