Nigerians urged to back IG�s war against crimeKAZEEM UGBODAGATHE national president of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Chief Sunday Ogunyade, has enjoined Nigerians to co-operate with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Tafa Balogun, and his team in a bid to rid the nation of criminal activities. The RTEAN boss, who spoke to newsmen after the union�s National Executive Committee meeting, stressed that the business of policing was a collective responsibility and as such, all hands should be on deck to assist in effort at bring succour to Nigerians. Ogunyade also appealed to President Olusegun Obasanjo and the National Assembly to give adequate support for the Inspector General of Police IGP achieve more success. He commended the the police boss for crushing a gang of notorious cross-border armed robbers allegedly led by Hammani Tidjani, saying that since the arrest, the incident of car snatching had reduced drastically. He said; �I have co commend the IGP, especially on the arrest of the Benin Republic-based notorious armed robber suspect, Hammani Tdijani. It is a huge success, because with the arrest, incident of cars being snatched has reduced drastically.� He added that since his assumption of office two years ago, the IGP had transformed the Police Force and brought about improvement. According to Ogunyade, aside from crime rate being drastically reduced, the IGP had instilled discipline in the force, saying that he had not seen such a dedicated police boss like Balogun. �What we have witnessed since his assumption of office has been success story all the time, though, there are some minor errors with his style of leadership, the force will make progress,� he stated.
