She explained that parastatals under the ministry have been repositioned to assist the ministry. Earlier, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Chief Chukwuemeka Chikelu said although the ministry was new, it had within a short time been able to tell Nigerians the number of houses owned by the Federal Government nationwide. Represented by a Director of Domestic Publication, Dr. C. N. In his speech, the Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Izunacho Osita, appealed to the minister to harness all the manpower and resources available in providing houses for Nigerians within the shortest possible time. Osita said at this time of the nations development, the legislature was now romancing with the executive in a collaborative effort in providing the dividends of democracy to the people under a peaceful atmosphere. He promised that the National Assembly intensify efforts to increase the revenue needed for the ministry to accomplish its mandate in next years appropriation.
